Job Description Under the supervision of the MA Supervisor/Administrative Nurse Manager, the Hospital Asst III: performs patient care duties directed toward positive patient outcomes. Job Description The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Heart & Vascular Center’s Advanced Heart Failure Comprehensive Care Center seeks a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to treat mechanical circulatory support (MCS), heart transplant, and advanced heart failure patients, among others. The UCSF team consists of highly experienced physicians, surgeons, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and researchers, caring for patients with advanced heart failure across the continuum of care. Our Advanced Heart Failure & MCS programs are nationally known for cutting edge advanced heart failure care and support in both the outpatient and inpatient setting and offers a variety of support systems (long-term and short-term). Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge and abilities essential to successfully performing the duties assigned to the position. Current American Heart Association CPR Certification. Demonstrated proficiency with computer usage, keyboard skills, and software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and diverse socioeconomic situations. 6 Months – 1 year experience as a medical assistant. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION 6 Months experience with OHNS in an ambulatory setting/medical practice. Proficiency with EPIC (APeX) electronic health records system. Bilingual or multi-lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) strongly preferred. Experience collecting and entering data, identifying errors and missing information, and performing fundamental process improvement analysis. Experience with insurance authorizations and interacting with retail pharmacies to refill medications.
