Your Role on the Team Position Summary The Nurse Coordinator functions independently providing direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center. Functions as the primary contact for patients. Provides education as needed to the patients/family related to surgical care, diagnostic procedures, medication and other complex aspects of the plan of care. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assures that the continuum of care process is complete to include: pre-procedure & surgery, therapy protocols, hospitalization, anticipated discharge needs and follow up in the physician offices. Supports the faculty in clinic for every patient care session. Occasionally performs scheduling of office visits and procedures. The nurse coordinator is accountable for the quality of nursing practice. Provides nursing services as needed and assists with other activities as assigned to help grow the practice and the referrals to UCI. Monitor and improve unit productivity, staffing effectiveness, fiscal stewardship, overtime management, and resource utilization. Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop nursing leaders and frontline caregivers to achieve professional growth and excellence in practice. Lead daily operations, patient throughput, psychiatric emergency response processes, admissions, discharges, and coordination of care activities. Promote evidence-based behavioral health nursing practices, therapeutic communication, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention strategies. Job Title: X-Ray Technician/MA Reports to: Center Manager Summary The X-Ray Technician/MA will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials. Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests. Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests. Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications Current limited X-Ray permit issued by the California Department of Public Health (expanded scope is ideal- to include digital radiography, chest, extremities, and torso-skeletal) is required CPT I certification Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections. Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet Neat and professional appearance Effective written and verbal communication skills Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant Working Conditions Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens.
