Responsibilities Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process while delivering, directing and supervising care to patients admitted to the nursing unit. The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and provides patient care to include interdisciplinary planning, discharge planning, patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization, and accessing community resources. May perform other related duties as assigned or requested, including Charge Nurse (ACLS certification required). Qualifications Education and Training: Holds a current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state where the hospital resides, or compact licensure if state participates. Current BLS certification is required. Evidence of ACLS certification is required within 90 days of employment. BLS and ACLS certifications must be AHA approved within 90 days of employment. Current ACLS certification is required for Charge Nurses. Experience: One year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required. Job Description Summary The Clinical Nurse Leader is a micro-system outcomes manager for a specified group of patients. Job Description The Clinical Nurse Leader : Collects physiological, psychosocial, and functional data to formulate nursing diagnosis utilizing evidence-based techniques and instruments. Partners with interdisciplinary team to address complex patient and family goals and collaborates with Allied Health staff on interventions to improve performance and outcomes. Monitors patient satisfaction and preparation for discharge scores and works with nursing staff to improve levels of performance. Reviews and critiques care plans for patients and works with staff to customize interventions to attain patient family goals and reduce the risk of complications during the rehabilitation stay. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Minimum education requirement of a Master's of Science degree (or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program. National certification as Clinical Nurse Leader, or completion of CNL within one year, and ongoing maintenance of Clinical Nurse Leader national certification/annual continuing education requirements. Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license. Current CPR certification. Minimum 4 years of relevant nursing experience. Understanding of the growth and development of infant, child, adolescent, young adult, middle-aged adult and geriatric patients. Demonstrates the ability to interpret growth and development related information to assure patient needs are met. Demonstrated success in leadership roles and initiatives. Obtains and labels specimens from wounds, Guiac stool specimens, Urine and sputum collection in cups, blood collection and transports specimens to lab as directed. Provides assistance to other nursing personnel as needed. Assists with the orientation of new personnel as appropriate. Runs errands, stocks examination rooms, maintains cleanliness of patient rooms, and triage area on a daily basis.
