About this Job: (RN) Nursing students slated to graduate in 2027 are encouraged to apply now for our Winter Student Nurse Extern Program This dayshift position will support the surgical needs of patients requiring orthopaedic, hand, and neuro spine procedures. State-of-the-art equipment and technology can be found in our 16 surgical suites designed to provide the highest level of care for our patients. Externs will have an opportunity to experience the preoperative as well as the postoperative (PACU) for a well-rounded experience. Treatments are primarily medical, but frequently include intervention in the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology lab, including stent placement, ablation, PPM/AICD implantation, Impella devices and TAVR's. Due to the chronicity of cardiac disease, the Registered Nurse will have the opportunity to form strong positive relationships due to the extended stays of many patients and their families. This unit is resourced a full-time “monitor watch” tech to assist in early detection of EKG changes and to alert staff of lethal rhythms. PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP).
