We seek a visionary, experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing staff. The Director of Nursing will oversee all aspects of the long-term care facility including providing leadership, project management, analysis, and recommendations for improvements within the home. Oversees nursing schedules to ensure resident needs and regulatory and budget standards are met. Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and termination of nursing personnel. Performs rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are being met. Conducts observations of nursing care and supervises the development of in-service education to ensure nursing staff is competent in current knowledge and skills. Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication. Monitors assist and implement the infection control program in accordance with current infection control guidelines to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection. Participates in budget development for the nursing department, medical, nursing, and central supplies. Assists in the preparation of inspection surveys, including staff in-services on survey processes, and participation in mock surveys as indicated. Participates in the facility’s plan of correction response to an inspection survey and implements any follow-up required for nursing allegations. Communicates directly with residents, medical and nursing staff, family members, department heads, and members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and services and respond to and resolve complaints and concerns. Oversees resident incidents and concerns daily to identify any unusual occurrences and reports them promptly to the Administrator and/or state agency for appropriate action. Monitors for allegations of potential abuse or neglect, or misappropriation of resident property and participates in the investigative process. Promotes safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to prevent employee injury and illness. May provide direct nursing care as necessary. Assist DON to monitor day-to-day operation of the nursing department and establish priorities and manage records, budgets, or supplies. Assist the DON in determining the staffing needs of the nursing department. Make daily rounds of the nursing department to verify that all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards and report findings to the DON. Monitor absenteeism to verify that an adequate number of nursing personnel are on duty at all times. Report problem areas to the DON. Comply with, support and enforce Company policies involving all safety and infection control procedures to include the proper use of mechanical lifts and gait belts. Identify educational and clinical needs of the nursing staff and schedule in-services to address them. Oversee Facility Annual In-services and trainings as the Educator for the facility CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES Must be a certified IP in long-term care or become certified within the first year of employment. Must be currently registered/licensed with applicable state. Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain it during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
