Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working in psychiatric or behavioral health settings working with adolescents or children. Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Additional Requirements: CPR certification and training in appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint before working with patients. Successful completion of CPI training and Service Excellence Training before working with patients. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation. Strong knowledge of mental health assessment tools, medication administration, and crisis intervention strategies. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care units is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to handle acute pain management and emergency response procedures effectively. Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care. Critical care experience or background in hospital medicine enhances suitability for this role. Duties Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients with diverse mental health needs, including crisis intervention and stabilization. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status evaluations, and risk assessments. Administer medications accurately, including psychotropic agents, and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with best practices and regulatory standards. Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Respond promptly to emergencies or behavioral escalations using de-escalation techniques and crisis management protocols.
