Certified Nursing Assistant Phlebotomist JOB PURPOSE: Provides each of the assigned patients with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the patient’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by the nurse supervisor. Under the direction of the manager, performs daily phlebotomy activities accurately, professionally and in a timely manner. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs all duties and responsibilities according to the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) job code 0101, Department 6300 for HCC. 2. Handles laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure requests for laboratory tests are properly ordered, cancelled, and charged. 3. Correctly identifies all patients to avoid mistakes that can affect treatment. 4. Performs blood collections from patients, mostly older age group 5. Performs specimen processing, preparation and distribution of specimens 6. Maintains a constant awareness of policies, and procedures. Always ensuring enforcement of infection control processes when working with or around patients. 7. Effectively communicate with patients, reassuring them, making them feel at ease when you are present. Effectively communicates on the phone and face to face by being courteous, prompt and polite. Ability to document all information correctly 8. Orders and maintains laboratory supplies 9. Responsible for keeping all work areas clean and properly stocked. 10. Handles information with discretion and always maintains confidentiality. 11. Coordinates and consults with lab manager regarding lab related issues. 12. Able to work independently and in a team environment. 13. Comply with all OSHA, CLIA, and federal regulations. 14. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. 15. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: • Computer- must be proficient with Microsoft office and other software programs • Participates in center/agency surveys (Licensure/JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports. • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current license/certification, as required. • Attends and participates in mandatory in-services. • Honors patients/residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self- determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints. • Complies with corporate compliance program. • Reports job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary. • Follows established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc. • Follows established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent. Job Summary: In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Wound/Treatment Nurse plays a critical role in providing superior customer service and nursing care to all Residents. The Wound Nurse is responsible for performing skin treatments for all Residents under their care. This position will obtain treatment orders from attending physicians and assist with modifying the treatment regimen in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities: Complete a Head-to-Toe body audit on all new admissions and re-admissions to ensure that all open areas have been identified by the admitting nurse. Review residents that have been identified to have new skin alterations and ensure implementation of skin sheet, treatment, specialty mattress, Braden scale updated, T&P orders, heels up orders or boots (if applicable) and initiate care plan (UM). Update skin sheets every 7 days. Assist with new admissions and re-admissions when directed. Consult with Nursing team concerning assessment evaluations and assist in planning and developing the skin care treatment to be performed. Initiate requests for consultation or referral. Assess the residents and their records on admission and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings in order to recognize when to refer the resident to a physician for evaluation, supervision or directions. May act as a Unit Nurse when directed. Provide supervision to C.N.A's and all subordinate staff which includes checking their work to ascertain that assignments have been completed. Summary: Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital surgical setting. Responsibilities: Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures. Develops a plan of care to protect patient safety, prevent injury, and ensure optimal care outcomes. Identifies expected patient outcomes specific to surgical procedures through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of care, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Assesses and monitors patients per documented policy and procedure. Collaborates with and assists interdisciplinary care team in the provision of surgical care. Documents care performed before, during and after surgical encounter in electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool. Performs surgical instrument and supply count. Administers interventions during patient movement and positioning in order to prevent injury. Ensures proper patient identification, site marking and surgical consent. Collect, label and coordinate delivery of specimens to laboratory as well as order appropriate testing . Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control. Other information: Required Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states by the day of clinical care. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
