Initiates and administers IV's in accordance with physician orders and nursing policy and procedure to support required treatment. Observes and documents patients' response to intravenous therapy. Safely administers and monitors patients receiving blood and blood products according to policy and procedure and observes and documents patient’s response to blood transfusions. Initiates and safely administers biologic agents in accordance with physician orders and nursing policies, procedures and protocols. Assists with bone marrow aspiration and/or biopsy Accesses venous access devices (VAD) Safely administers thrombolytic agent to clotted VAD Performs therapeutic phlebotomy Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD.
