How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. They ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor the provision of clinical services. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing UH (Unit Based) position is to operationalize and transition changes in the care delivery system of a unit or set of units through the skillful directing, coaching, support, and delegation to staff in the provision of clinically safe, fiscally sound, compassionate care and services to achieve safety, patient/family goals and patients/family satisfaction. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician II position is to be under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. The OR Technician II performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician II delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost-effective without compromising quality of care. The OR Technician II possesses knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Must work in air-conditioned environment with temperature of 65-73 degrees and humidity of 45-55%. When assigned to pediatric cases, temperature may be up to 85-90 degrees F. Must wear hospital provided scrub attire while on duty. Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strains and exposure to contagious disease via and body fluids. Potential for exposure to anesthesia waste gases, ethylene oxide, harsh disinfectants, sterilizing agents, high steam pressure agents and radiation. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY Serves as a clinical assistant to the licensed nursing staff by performing nursing procedures, basic patient care tasks in a manner that is reflective the ESC Core Values under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Prepare and transport residents to therapy in a timely manner. Is responsible for the care and safety of assigned resident until relieved by on coming caregiver. Participate in the implementation of the treatment plan including rehabilitation and continuous learning for the residents within the CNA scope under the direction of the RN or LPN. Provide or assist residents with activities of daily living. Performs therapeutic procedures for children such as bathing, grooming, playing, feeding, positioning as per policy and procedure. Document appropriately on all flow sheets. Assist RN and LPN as necessary in the performance of nursing care tasks. Observe, report and record abnormal vital signs, temperatures, seizures activity, vomiting, diarrhea, behavior changes or any other abnormalities to the RN or LPN in charge. Attend appropriate meetings and in-services Functions as an adult role model for residents. Performs all assigned duties in accordance with the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation’s policy and procedures Bath residents according to the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation policy and Procedure. Inspect resident’s skin and promptly report any changes to the NCC. Carries out mouth care, hair care and as necessary trim finger and toe nails. Make two hourly checks on incontinent residents and wash and change as necessary. Encourages self-help measures as appropriate so that each child may reach his/her appropriate level of independence. Check and record urine and bowel movements. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Performs restorative and rehabilitative activities as instructed and as directed by Plan of Care. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Feeds residents or teaches residents to feed themselves as appropriate. Ensure that hands are washed (child and caregivers) and that meal times are pleasant, dignified experiences Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Successful completion of NYS approved Nurse Assistant Certification Program Active CNA Certification on NYS Nurse Aide Registry required Experience Experience working with children. One year of experience as Nurse’s Aide preferred Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Returns clean personal laundry to residents, takes care of residents' laundry and linen needs when necessary or when scheduled. Answers call bells promptly and courteously. Demonstrates understanding of how to approach, interact and respond to memory impaired resident. Demonstrates ability to deal positively with cognitively impaired resident. Transports residents within facility as needed. Reports change in Resident status, behaviors and other concerns promptly to nurse. Performs minor housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain orderly/neat appearance of the facility. Documents accurately according to facility policy. Notifies nurse on duty when any medication is not given as ordered. Receives/transfers oral and written reports at change of shift. Review medication administration records for completeness at end of shift. Give and receives the nursing report and follow through on any special instructions. When in charge makes periodic checks to ensure that prescribed treatments are being properly administered by LPN’s and CNAs and to evaluate the residents physical and emotional status. Participates in the orientation of new staff residents and families to the unit. Carries out restorative and rehabilitative programs including teaching resident to wash/feed/dress self as appropriate. Ensures that the facility policy on the use of restraints is followed and that documentation is timely and accurate. Ensure that the unit is kept clean free from clutter and that the supply room door is kept locked; request the supervisor’s intervention as necessary to achieve this. Follows infection control standards and ensures that assigned personnel do likewise. Keep abreast of new nursing policies and procedures. Keep nurses notes, plan of care and all other documentation pertaining to your assigned resident timely accurate and complete. Carries out end of shift responsibility e.g. supplies are available for next shift’. Unit is clean and tidy; all documentation is complete and accurate.
