LPNs in the Outpatient Hemodialysis Setting An LPN can practice in the chronic hemodialysis outpatient department under the direct supervision of an RN. The LPN will participate in educational programs on a regular basis, including initial orientation and continuing in service training to care for patients with central venous access devices (CVAD). The training should include a written examination and competency demonstration. A Hemodialysis LPN may: • Administer bolus of medications by IV push in a chronic outpatient hemodialysis treatment center, excluding first dose administration which is administered by an RN. The RN will access and care for patient’s initial catheter use. Subsequently, and following the MSHS CVAD care policy, the LPN can: • Identify and set up supplies necessary for accessing a CVAD. • Initiate treatment with a CVAD. • Draw blood specimens from a CVAD. • Perform CVAD dressing change and exit site care. • Monitor and adjust flow rates of central venous catheter access device/line. • Intervene if there is a catheter/blood line disconnection or other complications associated with a CVAD. • Provide CVAD care at the end of dialysis treatment. What You'll Be Doing The Registered Nurse (RN) Provides professional nursing cae within the Emergency Department to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Provies direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. The ability to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the ED. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the department. Communicate with the physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. The ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Demonstrate the ability to use equipment specific to the Emergency Department. What We're Looking For Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred Current Registered Nurse New Jersey State license. BLS, ACLS and PALS and/or, ENPC within 1 year of hire. At least 2-years of relevant work experience required. PER DIEM. Day shift 7am to 7:30pm.
