What You'll Be Doing The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides medical support to children, under the direction of the Physician. Duties may include communicating with children of different abilities and developmental levels about their symptoms, talking to patients and their families about medical issues and recording the child’s vital signs and lab results. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assessing a child's needs and providing initial care Identifying changes in children's symptoms and intervening in emergency situations Participating in pain management for children Administer medications, draw blood, and give childhood vaccinations following age-appropriate guidelines Monitor temperature, pulse, breathing, and blood pressure and keep accurate records Evaluate children for signs and symptoms of abuse Provide supportive care to dying children Deal with the anxieties and demands of parents and help families deal with their child’s illness or injury Remain up to date on the latest developments, rules and regulations, drug therapies, equipment and treatment procedures. Description The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. Responsibilities Patient Care 1. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. 2.
