Job Description Summary: An Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse who coordinates and provides intermediate direct patient care to patients in the home, or in an alternate infusion suite, to ensure patient safety with continuity and compliance under a physician’s plan of care. Works under structured supervision of the designated supervisor. Effectively and timely communicates with Option Care’s Clinical team, medical providers, patients, and families/caregivers to facilitate continuity of care. Prepares clinical documentation in real-time during visits and submits to the nursing department to comply with established timelines for billing optimization. Completes all documentation legibly and applies approved abbreviations and documentation error correction practices per Option Care’s policy. Coordinates discharge planning and prepares discharge summaries with patient instructions and thoroughly reports patient care needs, progress and goals when transferring care. Demonstrates compliance with agency operations, Option Care’s policies and procedures, professional standards, local, state, federal regulations/guidelines, and accreditation standards. Maximizes work efficiency through the use of computers and other automation technologies to validate plan of treatment orders, communicates patient care provided, and follows assigned visit schedule. Responds promptly and appropriately to patient requests. Initiates emergency procedures as necessary. Accepts accountability for own practice through ethical and professional conduct. Utilizes information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions. Identifies and prioritizes information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient focused action. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays, such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, etc. Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols. Observes, monitors, and assesses patients’ condition, recognizes, identifies, and interprets serious situations and calls Physician or takes preplanned emergency measures when Physician is not immediately available. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses. Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining expected outcomes. Coordinates the care and delegates as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients. Qualifications Education/Training Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department. Licensure/Certification Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP is required for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Experience 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above; New Graduate RNs may be considered
