Position Overview: The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents on a daily basis. Key Responsibilities: • To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL). • Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy. • Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities). • Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately. • Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition. • Responsible for the safekeeping of residents’ personal possessions. • Keep resident rooms neat and safe. • Follow proper infection control techniques • Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality. • Re-teach resident to perform ADL skills. • Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications. • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow-up occurs. • Converse with resident and family; assist them on adjustment to the community. • Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly. • Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately. Qualifications: • Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing. SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) is to provide care for the residents under the direction of the nursing and medical staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight. Administers and documents medications given by following specifically written physicians orders, including oral, topical, and suppository medications, as well as eye and ear drops. Compliance - Participates in all in-service programs to expand and develop abilities. Maintains compliance to all personnel policies, established community policies and procedures, and Federal and State regulations and standards, including but not limited to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality laws. Understands and implements the Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Plan and evacuation procedures of the community during drills and actual emergencies. Performs various treatments not requiring license nurse (hot/cold applications, vital signs, weights, etc.) Uses procedure manual to verify correct techniques and practices standard precautions. Observes, records, and reports observations such as unexpected and untoward effects from medications. Takes vital signs as needed prior to administration of certain medications. Provides direct resident care. Functions as a CNA when not assigned to administer medications. Develops and maintains courteous and professional relationships with residents, visitors, and co-workers. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
