Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities • Assures all members of the surgical team have been instructed in the surgical procedures performed and periodically updates personnel on new techniques, instrumentation, and procedures. • Prepares for each assigned case by ensuring the room is properly prepared and equipped, the required documentation is present on the medical record, and the patient is properly identified. • Prepares the patient for operative procedures by positioning and grounding the patient as required, securing the patient on the table, assisting with intubation, and preparing the operative site. • Accompanies the patient to the recovery room and may be required to provide nursing care in the recovery room. • Monitors operative procedures by documenting proper patient positioning, breaks in sterile procedure, instrument, needle and sponge counts, preservation and labeling of specimens, administration of drugs and blood products, and critical incidents during the operative procedure. • Functions as a team member within the surgical department by assisting with gowning and gloving, procuring required medications, blood products and supplies, coordinating the involvement of other departments, and properly processing operative specimens. • Maintains a safe and productive work environment by assisting with cleaning, maintenance, and re-supply activities. • Successful completion of a training program and demonstrated competence in circulating nurse duties as determined by the Director of Surgical Services. • Must be adequately oriented to unit policies, procedures, and equipment. • Orientation shall include safety procedures, infection control practices, and performance improvement activities. • Training for the Operating Room shall consist of completion of competencies in various areas or roles in which the nurse will function. Nursing Assistant

Overview Provides patient care applying specialized knowledge and demonstrated clinical nursing skills. Maintains all required Nursing certifications and licenses. Performs nursing duties applying trained expertise, as well as ensuring patients receive the level of care and attention representative of the company's high-level mission and commitments to the healthcare community. Responsibilities • Provides personal care including bath, shampoo, shave, back rub, positions patients, makes beds, prepares patients for meals, feeds patients, and passes ice water. • Answers all signal lights and bells promptly to determine and meet patient needs. • Collects specimens, stool, urine, sputum, etc. • Collects input and output and records appropriately. • Collects and records vital signs on patient. Obtain and records pertinent patient information per hospital policy. • Assists and/or feeds patients, provides between meal nourishment’s, provides fresh drinking water and encourages fluids when indicated. • Assists in progressive ambulation of patients by wheelchair, stretcher, and bed. • Administers enemas, douches and inserts rectal tubes and documents appropriately. • Applies ace bandages and elastic stockings, fills hot water bottles, ice bags, pads and humidifiers. • Cares for Foley catheters and Levine tubes as instructed by nurse. • Applies condom drains and scrotal suspensatories, unsterile compresses, and binders. • Gives postmortem care and transports body to morgue. • Applies restraints and siderails to assure safety of patients. • Observes isolation technique and gives direct patient care to patients on isolation. • Assists in colostomy care. • Sets up Orthopedic appliances. • Runs errands, delivers messages, and answers telephone. • Maintains a safe environment. • Observes for and reports safety hazards, and prepares incident reports. • Prepares patients for surgery, x-ray and other therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. • Prepares patients for examination and treatment: • Remains with patients unless relieved.• Performs such duties as providing proper equipment, supplies, and adjusting lights.• Cleaning up and restocking of area, including supplies and equipment. • Assists in the orientation of the new patient to their surroundings. • Assists in maintaining a sanitary and safe environment in service and nursing areas. • Participates in team conferences, in-service education programs and staff meetings. • Assists other hospital employees as needed. • Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education • High School diploma or GED equivalent. • Successful completion of a hospital-approved Nursing Aide Training Program. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. They ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor the provision of clinical services. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Overview The Supplemental Staffing Team (SST) Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Appalachian Regional Healthcare including those established by the Nurse Practice Act. How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies. Key Responsibilities Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
