The Endoscopy RN provides primary nursing support to the physician and patient to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Provides patient education, promotes an understanding of the condition and adheres with the treatment plan. The Registered Clinic Nurse, functions in the spirit of teamwork, is accountable for the delivery of care utilizing skills learned in the clinic. Assists other team members on the unit. This union role is full-time, 40 hours weekly; 8-hour shifts; rotating start times between 6:30a.m., 7:00 a.m., and 8:00 a.m.; potential for every other Sunday, plus on-call rotation, which will be discussed during the interview. This role will cover Pre OP, Post OP, circulator, tech and scope processing. Endoscopy experience is strongly preferred. ACLS certification will be required within 6 months of hire. Inserts, monitors, regulates and discontinues IV's as required by provider. Administers medications, IV push medications, and topical medications. Routinely inspects and observes condition and operations of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and identify need for preventative and corrective maintenance. May clean, sterilize and prepare instruments, according to established protocols, to ensure required level of aseposis and adequate availability. Cleans and sets up procedure rooms between cases, ensures required level of aseposis, availability of appropriate instruments and equipment, and preparation of patient. Educate patients on all aspects of medication and treatments as appropriate. Assists in all aspects of day to day clinic activity.

Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care based upon patient response to interventions. Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and acts to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs. Problem solves, troubleshoots and takes corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment. Participates in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence- based practice. Actively participates as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and is accountable for unit and system specific metrics. Actively participates in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety. Performs independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines and standards. Admits and assess residents including initial care plan. Administers assessments, treatments, medications, and diets accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes. Completes all required resident charting every shift. Makes rounds on unit every shift; assess orderliness, infection control and resident care Observes and documents changes in residents’ condition and report to the attending physician and other departments. Participates in discharge planning with physician, and other departments according to residents’ needs. Directs, supervises, and assists CNAs and other nursing staff in providing bedside care. Works collaboratively with other members of the health care team in coordination of the resident’s care as evidenced by other department feedback and coordinates communication among team. Performs other duties as assigned.
