Key Responsibilities Obtains medical history and performs physical exam on patients. Interprets diagnostic tests and radiographic results and come up with a management plan for patients in concert with fellow and faculty physicians. Takes responsibility for patient assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient needs as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. Documents in chart for all patients seen. Reviews/orders diagnostic tests and radiographic results. Formulates and manages patient treatment plans and outcomes. Performs procedures, prescribes treatment, and signs prescriptions in accordance with institution and state requirements. Screens physician calls to educate patient/family on care and resources. Performs as first or second assist on operative cases using fine motor skills and manual dexterity. Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the attending physician and Fellows. An in-depth understanding of the pathophysiology of both cancer as well as surgical process and wound healing is necessary. Provide patient education which requires good interpersonal skills and a working knowledge of urologic oncology. Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary team to include but not limited to Physician, Advanced Practice Providers, providers from other hospital services, in-patient and outpatient nurses, Case Managers, Social Workers, Physical Therapist, Pharmacists, Respiratory Therapists and other Allied Health team members. Job Summary The Nurse Clinician II (NCII) has knowledge and skills necessary to meet standards for professional practice specified in Texas Nursing Practice Act and by HCHD Nursing Service. The practice patterns of competent generalists are characterized by the application of standards, principles, and algorithms to clinical situations. The NCII independently and safely manages patients with problems common to patients in his/her assigned clinical area; recognizes when he/she needs assistance and seeks appropriate resources. Minimum Qualifications Degrees: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Diploma in Nursing; Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse; Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas Basic Life Support from an American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program Other certificates as required by unit/service. Work Experience: One (1) year full time RN experience or completion of GN Program Language Skills: Bilingual Skills Preferred Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact) Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking) Writing /Composing (Correspondence/Reports) Proficiencies: P.C.
