Provides guidance to Behavioral Health Technicians in their administering to the nursing needs of clients/patients . Coordinates client/patient staff assignments for patient care and documentation Effectively leads team in delivering patient care as unit Charge Nurse Actively participates in PI (Peer Review) and disseminates information to staff. Monitors seclusion and restraint for appropriate patient care and documentation. Work Environment/ Physical Demands: Noise level is high in some patient care areas. The position as described walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with clients, residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., in a behavioral health hospital and addictions setting. The employee will frequently be required to lift/pull/push/move up to 50 pounds. Must utilize conversational speech for effective verbal communication. The Intervention Registered Nurse is responsible for the performance of diversified nursing functions in emergency or other unpredictable situations requiring additional nursing care in addition to the basic Registered Professional Nurse job description. The Intervention Registered Nurse is specially trained to float to any patient care area to meet the varying needs as assessed by the Administrative Supervisor. Required Qualifications - Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045). - Require minimum of two (2) years current RN experience. - Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications. Preferred Qualifications - Prefer ACLS certification upon hire and required within 60 days of employment. - Prefer strong medical-surgical, critical care and/or obstetric skills. - Prefer willingness to be cross-trained in all critical care and specialty areas with annual competency skills maintained. - Prefer good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to function well under stress. - Prefer demonstrated knowledge of growth and development and possesses ability to assess, interact, communicate, and care for age specific patient population.
