Job Description The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) is a licensed practitioner responsible for providing comprehensive orthopedic care in collaboration with the supervising orthopedic surgeon. The APP assists in the operating room, manages inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care, conducts patient evaluations, develops treatment plans, coordinates care, and provides patient education in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and established standards of care. The LVN functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, and utilizes the nursing process in implementation of patient's care. Those services are performed under the supervision of a registered nurse but utilize all nursing skills to make safe, appropriate and independent decisions within the scope of the LVN nursing practice. Job Description While working under the supervision of their assigned preceptor the RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. This includes the initial and ongoing, extensive collection, analysis and interpretation of data. · Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and to formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes. · Assist with the implementation of the plan of care. The RN may begin, deliver, assign or delegate certain interventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. · Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research findings, and plans any follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
