The Johns Hopkins Hospital Psychiatric Acute Inpatient Unit, Schizophrenia (Meyer 5) is a 19 bed unit specializing in the treatment of schizophrenia psychotic disorders as well as treatment of psychiatric disorders that may include evidence of disruption in behavior, cognition, or mood. This unit features a Schizophrenia Day Hospital that provides ongoing/treatment interventions such as pharmacotherapy, individual and group psychotherapy, and psycho-education groups. Qualifications : BSN/MSN preferred. Must be from an accredited nursing program. Applicants with an Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program may be considered; provided they are enrolled in an accredited BSN/MSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire. Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted RN work experience required Ability to role model and support practices consistent with evidenced based care, guide others with plan of care, independently make clinical decisions in complex situations, and proactively assist others with patient assignment. Assists in developing comprehensive care plans. 12. Completes medical records documenting care provided and other information in accordance with nursing policies while maintaining strict confidentiality. 13. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when providing care. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies. 14. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to appropriate persons. 15. The Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit is a 14-bed unit providing treatment for patients whose psychiatric symptoms may be the result of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, neurodegenerative disorders or head traumas. As a Registered Nurse/RN you will: Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans. Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician. Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families. Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff. Document and report patient progress to treatment team. Requirements: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position. Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred Preferred Geriatric and/or Med-Surg experience (at least 1 year) All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment. About this Job: This is for a part time or full-time 6:30pm-7:00am shift RN position in the Emergency Department at MedStar Franklin Square. Unit Highlights Welcome to MedStar Franklin Square, a Magnet designated hospital. MedStar Franklin Square Emergency Department is a 62 bed department, with 18 flex beds, and a 9 bed Stroke Response Unit. MedStar Franklin Square is also a STEMI receiving and A Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Emergency Department see’s approximately 70,000 patients a year and serves a diverse patient population. 1-year acute care experience preferred. Must have graduated from an accredited nursing program and have a Maryland or compact state nursing license. Key Responsibilities As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs—from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans.
