Description The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. Responsibilities Patient Care 1. Coordinates with the Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Nursing Administrator to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care. 3. Escalates material or staffing resource deficits to charge nurse, Clinical Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager or Nursing Administrator. 4. Demonstrates patient focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care in terms of equipment, staff, supplies and all other resources. 5. Documents in an accurate and thorough manner in compliance with hospital, regulatory and legal requirements and standards of care. 6. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required: 1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration. 2. Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer ( e.g. , Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [ i.e. , PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White) score accurately as defined by organizational policy.
