About the Unit: Indiana University Health Multi-Specialty MedSurg (6S) is a fast-paced, 30-bed unit that specializes in caring for a diverse patient population. Patients on this unit may present with conditions related to urology, colorectal, gynecology, general surgery, ENT, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, trauma. Due to the wide range of diagnoses treated on the unit, nurses gain valuable experience caring for a variety of medical and surgical patients. Registered Nurse - Surgical Oncology MedSurg - FT Days

Overview Shift: Day Shift - Full Time Unit Acuity Level: MedSurg Hospital: University This position is referral eligible and currently qualifies for a NEW hourly location differential in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials. About the Unit: This unit specializes in Surgical Oncology, specifically: pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, and ear/nose/and throat cancers. Additionally, the unit often sees surgical interventions, related to upper\lower GI, as well as medical patients on shifts. This unit does not administer chemo. This is a high functioning, fast paced surgical and specialized care unit. Clinical Nurses will be a part of a lot of peer-to-peer team collaboration and decision making for recovering post-surgical patients with a cancer diagnosis. This unit at University Hospital provides a phenomenal learning and collaborative environment within a high acuity setting for all nurses. We were recently recognized for going over a year without any accidents. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Peer-to-peer collaboration Patient and family education Patient assessment Critical thinking Qualifications: Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
