Summary: Provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty board certification. Operates in accordance with Section 4723.431 of the Ohio Revised Code and rule adopted by the Board of Nursing for Advanced Practice Nurses, the national board certifying agency, and maintains a Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician(s) on the medical staff. Performs admission history & physical, document progress notes, complete discharge summaries as required. Provides consultations and requests consults as directed and in accordance with hospital bylaws. Assists with and facilitates discharge planning. Current state license as a Registered Nurse required. Current BLS provider and CPR Certification required. Minimum 2 years clinical experience preferred. Acute care setting preferred. Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Responsibilities The Wound Care Nurse provides skin, wound and, ostomy care to select patient populations. The role is also responsible for patient assessments, planning, supervising, interventions, and evaluations designed to prevent complications of physical disability, restore optimal functioning, and help the patient adapt to an altered life style. Consults with other health care providers for patients in need of skin care, wound care, and ostomy care as requested. Integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice.
