Job Description Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse C-VAT (Vascular Access Team) demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge applicable to the specialty practice of vascular access nursing. Serves in two large Magnet Recognized tertiary academic medical centers with multiple hospital campuses (University Hospital, East Campus Hospital, Surgical Hospital, Children's Hospital) and ambulatory departments. Works under the collaborative direction and leadership of a medical director and nursing leadership team. Functions in a fast paced environment and utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize and coordinate procedures based on the needs of the patient population served, established professional practice model (Duffy's Quality-Caring Model), approved standardized procedure(s), policies, guidelines, registered nurse scope of practice and recommendations outlined by the Intravenous Nurses Society (INS), applicable regulatory standards and requirements. Educates patients regarding procedure and verifies informed consent is completed prior to procedure. Serves as a role model in patient care delivery methods, communication and documentation.
