Job Summary and Qualifications As an Acute Inpatient – Rehabilitation Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. You will participate in activities to plan, measure, asses and improve the quality of patient care. Instructs patients/families regarding the disease process. You will be responsible for additional admission paperwork specific to the Rehabilitation Unit. You will participate in weekly patient care conferences, as needed. The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license, and at least one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Candidates must work the Evening/Night shift from 7:00pm - 7:00am shift, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 32-bed unit and the unit cares for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and in-patient rehab patients. The patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our unit focuses on acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients who require more hands on monitoring the first 24 hours post-surgery. This position is responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager in providing leadership to the department – overseeing the daily operations – managing and developing departmental staff, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process, ensuring the delivery of quality care to patients.
