RN Unit Manager Duties: Assess resident's clinical needs. Handle all supervisory duties for the unit. Mentor less experienced nurses. Establish the standards of care for the unit. Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide three day, 24 hour, Medication Administration Training to all new employees as well as returning employees as needed. Teach Nursing Triage during the new employee orientation. Assist in the creation of AMAP Application files, track medication certification records for all employees. Communicate with Supervisors and Operations RNs regarding completed AMAP classes and needed certification pours. Be a member of the DDSO Nursing Administration Board and of the Medical Policy Review Committee. Become a Certified CPR/AED/FA instructor, teaching approximately 36 classes per year. Complete data entry and bill verification for all First Aid/CPR classes taught. Successfully complete requirements to become a certified instructor for PROMOTE. Teach Maintaining Good Health that provides an overview of diabetes, chronic and acute illness, plan of nursing services, seizure care and treatment, vital signs, informed consent, skin breakdown prevention, personal care and appropriate ways to clean a variety of body areas, how to address incontinence issues, menses care, catheter care, oral hygiene/dental health, MIPS (medical immobilization protective stabilization), how to complete and document a body check as well as information on aging. Schedule support/teach Statewide RN Orientation classes Maintain frequent email and phone communication with operations employees and supervisors Deliver New Employee Orientation sessions as assigned Become a Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) secondary administrator Assist in SLMS class creation and data entry Teach, develop or update materials as necessary and perform other duties related to training as requested by Director. Maintain and order materials necessary for training Assist with classroom and equipment set up Provide ongoing support to training classes Have proficient computer skills related to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as how to use/troubleshoot video and phone conferencing equipment.. Provide medication administration, infection control and emergency care training to family care providers and substitute family care providers if requested. Routine travel to other training locations within the Capital District. Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status. Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the increased hiring salary and geographic pay differential. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($66,951), Increased Hiring Salary ($9,196), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). Geographic Pay Differential is added to the job rate ($85,138).
