Experienced Clinical Nurse - Inpatient Rehab & Neurology

The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license, and at least one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Candidates must work the Evening/Night shift from 7:00pm - 7:00am shift, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 32-bed unit and the unit cares for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and in-patient rehab patients. The patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our unit focuses on acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients who require more hands on monitoring the first 24 hours post-surgery. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice, and the team actively participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital-based committees, and local and national conferences.The acute care rehabilitation service helps to safely transition patients to a community setting. Rehabilitation services include bowel and bladder retraining, dysphagia management, tracheostomy and ostomy management, wound care and medication management . Instructor - Nurse Practitioner

Summary To provide coverage for patient care for Emergency Medicine at Ben Taub General Hospital. This is a critical piece of the clinical service that will help maintain coverage within the Emergency Center. The physician assistant is expected to demonstrate competency in following areas: Productivity needs to meet or exceed standards set by the Section and/or Department. Keep up with continuing medical education as per college and section requirements. Renewing and meeting all required licenses and certification requirements. Familiarize with EPIC- electronic medical records and document all patient encounters as needed. Complete all documentation in a timely manner so that billing and other administrative tasks can happen smoothly to ensure a robust operational system. Always maintaining credentialing to ensure practice is not disrupted. Job Purpose Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician. Job Duties Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient. Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician. Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care. Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education Required: Master’s degree in in Nursing. Experience Required: None required. Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Work Authorization Requirement: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
