Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Specialty team in Maplewood, MN. You won't be bored of doing the same things day in and day out because you get to do different things in different specialties! This is a 0.01 FTE ( casual/on-call position ), non-benefits- eligible opening. Clinic Hours of Operation are Monday-Friday 8am-5p. No Weekends! This position will require flexibility to float to all 3 regions (East region: Maplewood, Woodbury, Wyoming. Central: Minneapolis, Maple Grove. South: Edina). The LPN performs delegated nursing and medical functions of data collection and delivery of care to an assigned group of patients, or individualized patient. The LPN works under the direction of a Registered Nurse, or physician/authorized practitioner and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. The LPN is responsible for adhering to all policies, procedures, and nursing practice guidelines. Responsibilities Collects data for patient assessments. Involves the patient, family, and other health team members in gathering relevant data. Document’s data collected in the medical record. Reports unusual data or changes in patient condition to the RN, or physician/authorized practitioner in a timely manner. Delivers care as delegated by the RN or physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient. Follows the patient’s plan of care. Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Podiatry team in Maplewood, MN This is a 0.8 FTE ( 64 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening. Clinic Hours of Operation are Monday – Thursday: 7:00AM – 6:00PM and Friday: 7:00AM – 5:00PM. You won't be bored of doing the same things day in and day out because you get to do different things in different specialties! The LPN performs delegated nursing and medical functions of data collection and delivery of care to an assigned group of patients, or individualized patient. The LPN works under the direction of a Registered Nurse, or physician/authorized practitioner and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. The LPN is responsible for adhering to all policies, procedures, and nursing practice guidelines. Responsibilities Collects data for patient assessments. Involves the patient, family, and other health team members in gathering relevant data. Document’s data collected in the medical record. Reports unusual data or changes in patient condition to the RN, or physician/authorized practitioner in a timely manner. Delivers care as delegated by the RN or physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient. Follows the patient’s plan of care. Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences, in collaboration with the RN or physician/authorized practitioner. Performs high and low risk technical procedures, including medications, defined by the clinical setting. Recognizes when different approaches may be needed based on age or cultural differences. Implements assigned aspects of the patient teaching plan. Documents care in the medical record. Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to delegating RN or physician/authorized practitioner. Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patients. Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and nursing practice guidelines. Responds appropriately to emergent situations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home. Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage. Maintains work environment Restocks the supply area as needed. Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen. Maintains all disinfection protocols. Maintains equipment according to quality control standards. Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities. SALARY LEVEL: $40-$60/hour Qualifications Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. 3+ years nursing experience preferred, preferably at least one year in oncology RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements.
