The TRACU (Trauma Recovery Acute Care Unit) is a 33-bed unit that provides care to adult trauma patients. This unit provides care for the patient with acute neurosurgical, orthopedic, and other multisystem trauma injuries. Priority for admission is given to any adult patient with neurosurgical or orthopedic trauma. A variety of interventions including portable ventilators, multisystem trauma care, pain management and blood/blood products administration pre/post op care of adult neurosurgical patients including those requiring ventriculostomy management, may occur in this patient population. Overview Appointments to this job are always temporary, lasting no more than 6 months as part of a Medical Assisting training program. This is an on-site position, based in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. Candidates must reside in either Oregon or Washington state to be employed with Legacy Health. The Medical Assistant Extern Clinics is supervised at all times by a Lead Medical Assistant (MA), MA preceptor, or designee. Responsibilities Provides direct patient care within an assigned department or unit Collaborates as part of the health care team under the direction of the clinical manager or designee Adheres to the Standards and Scope of Practice for Registered Nurses Performs all aspects of the nursing process: Assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care Follows established Legacy Health System standards, including Patient assessment protocols & patient transfer procedures Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments. Experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO. Experience: One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing residency program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized. Skills: Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Licensure Current applicable state RN license required. BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association required. Pay Range USD $51.78 - USD $77.34 /Hr.
