Prepares and stocks rooms (daily/weekly) and clinic supplies in advance of clinic visit as well as cleaning rooms appropriately between patients. 6. Prepares for and assists with routine and specialty procedures. 7. Schedules patients for follow up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties for team and staff to include photocopying, scanning and faxing. 8. Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up. 9. Responds to emergency situations. 10. Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Research Nurse II-Part Time

Summary This Part-time (.5 FTE) Research Nurse II in the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) / Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), is responsible for assisting faculty in the Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology Division with the conduction of Diabetes research studies. The incumbent will conduct participant diabetes education and training as required for research studies and administer medication. Will assist with other research study activities, including coordination of visits, participant enrollment, data collection, documentation, and safety of research participants. Lastly will assist with regulatory tasks and preparation of study data reports and related presentations and manuscripts. The position may include travel to other TCH sites (e.g., West Campus, etc.) to conduct research related activities. This role will identify study candidates, conduct informed consent, conduct study activities, including training study participants on the use of diabetes devices (e.g., insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors), assisting with device start and troubleshoot, as well as data download and interpretation and administer medication. The successful candidate will train and lead junior research staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have previous experience interacting with patients and families and/or experience in health care setting. Has experience with culturally diverse children and families. Will be highly organized, keep detailed records, and display excellent verbal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Is respectful, patient-centered interactions with patients, medical providers, and staff. Has proficiency with computers, internet, Microsoft Office applications, computer spreadsheets, and database management. Has the ability to understand and implement patient studies and protocols. This position is located in the Texas Medical Center. Job Duties Diabetes Education and clinical duties (80%): Provides formal diabetes education to study participants. Trains participants on the use of diabetes devices. Places diabetes devices (e.g., insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors) on the participant's body). Monitors, tracks, and adjusts insulin levels based on protocol. Collects and manages survey data, downloading data from diabetes management devices, and completes electronic medical record reviews. Administers study medication. Assists with pre-activation activities (e.g., develop study materials, such as study protocol, manual of operation, forms, questionnaires, etc.). Screens Epic for eligible candidates and recruit, enroll and evaluate research visits with participant/family. Obtains informed consent/assent. Collects biometric information (e.g., weight, height, waist circumference). Maintains patient charts and medical records. Performs data collection from the electronic medical record system (i.e., Epic). Conducts basic biospecimen processing (e.g., spinning, aliquoting, etc.). Travels to TCH health centers outside of the Texas Medical Center for study recruitment and other research-related activities. Regulatory / Programmatic Research Operations (20%): Performs interpretation of missing reports, in collaboration with study statistician and PI, produce curated reports with missing data, and follow-up with research coordinators to address the missing data. Assists with manuscript writing, e.g., integrate comments from co-authors to revise a manuscript - Formatting of manuscripts to comply with guidelines for authors from scientific journals. Performs submissions of manuscripts to scientific journals. Assists with editing, formatting and submitting abstracts to scientific meetings. Produces reports of relevant research program data, for instance, human subjects tables for progress reports and grant applications to funding agencies. Provides regular updates to PI and other members of the research team. Assists with regulatory tasks (e.g., complete data required for IRB renewals, notes to file, reports). Orders and maintains study supplies and equipment. Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies. The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Experienced Clinical Nurse - General Internal Medicine

The General Internal Medicine unit is a 16-bed one-pod intermediate care medical oncology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from 18 -95. Patients treated on P4A include those with solid tumor cancers, such as colorectal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancer who are on a spectrum of cancer care from pre-diagnosis to end of life. Patients are provided treatment for side effects and complications of their cancer care, as well as supportive care. Patients are typically admitted to the unit to manage effects of cancer treatment agents including infection, significant GI complications, cardiac complications, renal failure, hypotension, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia. Nursing interventions are focused on management of symptoms and side effects, as well as evaluation of patients' safety needs for disposition planning.
