Responsibilities Implements and coordinates the delivery of care in collaboration with physician and other provider and healthcare staff. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in applying nursing knowledge. Documents all pertinent information regarding nursing care, care plans and observations. Accounts for narcotics/emergency equipment on each tour of duty. Maintains a working knowledge of facility infection control procedures. Recognizes, questions and reports significant patient findings and/or inconsistencies in medical/nursing orders/treatment regime. Collaborates and seeks corrective action. Selects and individualizes/updates and adheres to clinical procedures/ protocols/standards/ clinical pathways, plans of care/narcotics policies and discharge/teaching plans. Completes and submits patient/unit charges. Recognizes/prioritizes overt/convert unit needs/problems/implements corrective action independently. Assumes charge nurse role when assigned/supervises designated personnel/takes action as needed. Applies the use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems. Provides functional direction and assistance to LPN's and CNA's or MA's, and completes new staff orientation as assigned. Makes rounds on a timely basis to ensure continuity of care. Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times. Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list. Performs all other related job duties as assigned. Experience Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience. Education Associate's degree in Nursing is required. BSN degree is preferred. Any Employee who will be performing Point of Care and testing in the Operating Room, Neuro ICU, NICU, PICU, Pedi-ER, Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology areas, the educational degree must be verified at the time of hire. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement to maintain provision of quality care. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Assists in planning, supervising, and instructing secretaries, and Nursing Assistants thereby providing care to a number of patients. Incorporates critical thinking skills into patient care. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome; modifies the plan of care based upon the evaluations. Demonstrates a professional, supportive attitude. Provides excellent customer service. Position requires considerable walking, standing, moderate lifting, exposure to patient elements and handling of emergencies and critical patient incidents. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another patient care unit as assigned by department head or nursing supervisor. Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others Two year experience in nursing particularly Telemetry required One year in Step Down unit Clinical competence Basic computer knowledge Successful completion of Critical Course preferred Graduate from an approved nursing educational program as defined by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Required Licenses/Certifications: Current Florida Registered Nurse Licensure Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification from the American Red Cross Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification from the American Red Cross Basic arrhythmia skill required prior to start in the unit, or critical care experience
