Description The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of: clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain and budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements. The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision / management of patient care. Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center, located in Avenel, NJ. The UCHC Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus; works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment; frequently functions guided by nursing protocols; and functions as a team leader as assigned. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmatepatient including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) and their family within the framework established by the correctional system. Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Attends appropriate in-services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills. Participates in offering education to inmates, security officers and other members of the health care team.
