Position Details: The Medical Surgical unit, also known as Med-Surg, is a specialty unit that makes up the foundation of nursing. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Rogers is a 48-bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. This can include care of patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis; as well as pre and post op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure. The Med-Surg unit also manages chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and chronic kidney disease. Service lines include oncology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, and many more. Given the generalized nature of the Med-Surg unit and the amount of variation in patient conditions, the acuity of patients vary. Ratio : 6:1 Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.
