How you will contribute You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable. You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs. Position Overview: Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a dedicated full-time Infusion Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Participates in companywide quality initiatives. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. Assesses and records patient data pre and post infusion therapy as indicated per protocol, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes. Assesses patients for changes in condition. Maintains knowledge of reimbursement procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting providers regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management. Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Administers all medications using correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy and other medications, to include, but not limited to: venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices. Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home. Triages patient phone calls as needed. Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy. Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Business Experience – 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred Specialized Knowledge/Skills – Oncology certification preferred Physical Demands : Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) – The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
