FTE: 0.001000 Standard Hours 0.01 Shift: Shift 1 Shift Details : Hours will vary based on the needs of the department. The shifts will range between 0600 - 1830. Call is required and is at a minimum 2 shifts per 6-week schedule. Holidays and weekends on a call rotation as well. Job Summary: The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients. The RN demonstrates competency in delivery of care to all patient populations, and is responsible for the management of both the unique and predictable needs of the patient undergoing an operative or invasive procedure in the Operating Room and/or the GI/Bronch lab. The Registered Nurse job description incorporates the 15 essential functions of the job description, which are adapted from the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Upon hire any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be required to enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program. Acceptance into a program is expected within 15 months of hire and the degree program must be completed within 5 years of enrollment, or 6 years if program is MSN, DNP or PhD in Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. You are the eyes, the ears, and the voice of the patient during one of the most vulnerable times of a person’s healthcare journey. The OR is highly interdependent, and team based. You will work closely with surgeons, residents, advanced practice clinicians, anesthesiologists, technologists and assistants to provide superior surgical outcomes. Your orientation and practice environment is rooted in the specialty standards and educational programs of the Association of Perioperative Nurses (AORN). Your extensive RN orientation includes full training in the circulator role. What you will do As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum. Circulator role includes - time outs, positioning of patient, maintains sterile and safe environment, prepares the OR with necessary supplies, checks for inventory, and documents all aspects of the procedure ​ What we are looking for: Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). 1-2 years OR experience needed About This Location: Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is a 938-bed, quaternary acute care community hospital that provides advanced health care expertise.
