Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY Serves as a clinical assistant to the licensed nursing staff by performing nursing procedures, basic patient care tasks in a manner that is reflective the ESC Core Values under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Prepare and transport residents to therapy in a timely manner. Is responsible for the care and safety of assigned resident until relieved by on coming caregiver. Participate in the implementation of the treatment plan including rehabilitation and continuous learning for the residents within the CNA scope under the direction of the RN or LPN. Provide or assist residents with activities of daily living. Performs therapeutic procedures for children such as bathing, grooming, playing, feeding, positioning as per policy and procedure. Document appropriately on all flow sheets. Assist RN and LPN as necessary in the performance of nursing care tasks. Observe, report and record abnormal vital signs, temperatures, seizures activity, vomiting, diarrhea, behavior changes or any other abnormalities to the RN or LPN in charge. Attend appropriate meetings and in-services Functions as an adult role model for residents. Performs all assigned duties in accordance with the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation’s policy and procedures Bath residents according to the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation policy and Procedure. Inspect resident’s skin and promptly report any changes to the NCC. Carries out mouth care, hair care and as necessary trim finger and toe nails. Make two hourly checks on incontinent residents and wash and change as necessary. Encourages self-help measures as appropriate so that each child may reach his/her appropriate level of independence. Check and record urine and bowel movements. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Performs restorative and rehabilitative activities as instructed and as directed by Plan of Care. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Feeds residents or teaches residents to feed themselves as appropriate. Ensure that hands are washed (child and caregivers) and that meal times are pleasant, dignified experiences Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Successful completion of NYS approved Nurse Assistant Certification Program Active CNA Certification on NYS Nurse Aide Registry required Experience Experience working with children. One year of experience as Nurse’s Aide preferred Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds. Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary. Working Conditions: Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area. Will be subject to frequent interruptions. May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Responsibilities The position of Chief Nurse Anesthetist is responsible and accountable to the overall operations and management of the CRNA staff, including hiring, evaluating, and mentoring. Collaborates with the Chair of the Anesthesiology Department in developing, interpreting, and applying department policies, budgets, and long-range plans. Analyzes and evaluates activities to assure established quality patient services and plans appropriate utilization of staff time and capabilities. Coordinates these activities with other hospital departments. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist will demonstrate professional and clinical leadership, expertise, and judgment. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program with a Master’s Degree in a related field; or graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs prior to January 1998 is required. Certified as an APN in the State of NJ is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a nurse anesthetist is required. Candidate must have sufficient sensory capacity to observe the patient and patient monitors. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both academic and health care settings. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to support the Nurse Manager to ensure standards of professional practice are developed and maintained to achieve excellence and continuity in resident care. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for working in a collaborative manner with the Nurse Manager to direct and organize the nursing care for their assigned neighborhoods. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support the leadership, direction, and supervision of nursing staff, including RNs/LPNs, CNAs and Companions. This includes working in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and the neighborhood staff to balance schedules and maintain staffing levels that are consistent with resident needs, including needs as defined by their Plan of Care, activity and daily schedules, outside and in-house clinic visits, and school programs. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also review and/or modify staff assignments as necessary to ensure quality resident care. In addition, the Assistant Nurse Manager will participate in the hiring, interviewing and onboarding process, as well as periodic evaluation of staff that are assigned to their floor. Evaluations include annual performance reviews as well as interim coaching, counseling and progressive disciplines that may be required. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of at least 4 days per week a that includes providing evening supervisory coverage and reporting off daily concerns and significant changes in resident condition to the night supervisors. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week. The Assistant Nurse Manager will demonstrate a commitment to the continuum of care for our residents, through participating in and promoting nursing practice while in the Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center and through follow up with collaborating hospitals in the case of transfers for escalations in care. Consistent with our Mission and the philosophy of child/family centered care, the Assistant Nursing Manager will participate in the QAPI process to identify opportunities for system improvements and will establish collegial interdisciplinary relationships in order to foster communication and growth between nursing and other departments The Assistant Nurse Manager will function as an advocate for residents and their families through a culturally competent, trauma informed approach that will include escalating and participating in the family grievance process, attending clinical status meetings daily, communicating concerns to the interdisciplinary team, and ensuring families are kept updated with clinical concerns and changes that are reported through the incident reporting process. Support all nursing staff, serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff , addressing complex patient care issues. Participates in and promotes Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities including neighborhood-based quality council meetings, safety huddles, occurrence reporting, QAPI Performance Improvement Projects (PIPs), and evidence-based practice. They ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor the provision of clinical services. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification. Responsibilities Purpose of Your Position Serves as a clinical assistant to the licensed nursing staff by performing nursing procedures, basic patient care tasks and other unit activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse Position Functions and Responsibilities Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures. Participate in the implementation of the treatment plan including rehabilitation and continuous learning for the residents within the CNA scope under the direction of the RN or LPN. Provide or assist residents with activities of daily living. Performs therapeutic procedures for children such as bathing, grooming, playing, feeding, positioning as per policy and procedure. Document appropriately on all flow sheets. Assist RN and LPN as necessary in the performance of nursing care tasks. Observe, report and record abnormal vital signs, temperatures, seizures activity, vomiting, diarrhea, behavior changes or any other abnormalities to the RN or LPN in charge. Attend appropriate meetings and in-services Functions as an adult role model for residents. Performs all assigned duties in accordance with the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation’s policy and procedures Bath residents according to the Center for Pediatrics and Rehabilitation policy and Procedure. Inspect resident’s skin and promptly report any changes to the NCC. Carries out mouth care, hair care and as necessary trim finger and toe nails. Make two hourly checks on incontinent residents and wash and change as necessary. Encourages self-help measures as appropriate so that each child may reach his/her appropriate level of independence. Check and record urine and bowel movements. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Performs restorative and rehabilitative activities as instructed and as directed by Plan of Care. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Feeds residents or teaches residents to feed themselves as appropriate. Ensure that hands are washed (child and caregivers) and that meal times are pleasant, dignified experiences Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Successful completion of NYS approved Nurse Assistant Certification Program Active CNA Certification on NYS Prometric Nurse Aide Registry required Experience Experience working with children.
