Job Overview Fairview Ridges Hospital is looking for a passionate and hardworking Nursing Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Cardiology/IMC unit! Located in Burnsville, MN just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN, near the 35 E and 35 W conjunctions. This position is a 0.6 FTE, working 48 hours per 2 week pay period. This position works 8-hour shifts, and has an every other weekend rotation (Fri,Sat,Sun), and on a rotating Day/Evening shift (7:00AM - 3:30PM and 3:00PM - 11:30PM). The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse. Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights. Assists the nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation. Places patient on/off monitors or equipment. Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner. Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients. Orients patient and their family to the environment. Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge. Transports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies. Assures patients get to appointments on time. Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation. Cleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment. Orders and stocks supplies. Accurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form. Performs other tasks as needed. License/Certification/Registration Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program OR Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. This position will serve an adult patient population (16 years or older) . As an Operating Room RN, you will be responsible for: Implementing protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources. Confirming identity before the operative or invasive procedure and verifying operative procedure, surgical site and laterality. Appling safety devices, performing required counts, managing specimen handling and disposition. In addition, three rooms have been established to handle critically ill or trauma patients, one of those specifically for pediatric patients. In addition to being a Trauma Center, the Hospital is a Cardiac Center of Excellence and a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
