Department Overview The Surgery department provides surgical services to treat multiple issues from dental/oral to urologic conditions on an inpatient and outpatient basis. They assist in providing a pre-surgery program for patients, their siblings, and their parents which includes a tour of the hospital and a discussion on how the family can prepare for the upcoming hospital visit. Position Summary Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. The team manages a diverse mix of complex surgical and medical patients, including those recovering from vascular, thoracic, and open-heart procedures, as well as cardiac and respiratory cases requiring advanced monitoring. With telemetry capabilities and a progressive training approach, this unit offers a supportive environment for both RNs and nursing support staff to grow their skills and thrive in high-acuity care. Job Responsibilities The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.
