The nursing process will be utilized (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and teaching) in providing care. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status. Completes assessments including history and physical, medication reconciliation, problem list and develops a plan of care. Performs assessment and plans for ongoing treatment for patients in the service. Orders lab and diagnostic tests for patients as appropriate to formulate diagnosis, develop treatment plans. Reviews results of lab and diagnostic tests and makes adjustment to the treatment plan accordingly. Prescribes medication appropriate for the condition. Provides treatment appropriate for the condition i.e.: wound care, respiratory treatments, basic emergency treatments. Plans a response for follow-up for patients with abnormal tests results and intervenes with patient according to medical center policy and procedure. Refers to specialist, collaborates with care team for follow up care. Completes employee physicals as assigned. Assures all entries to the medical record, paper or electronic, are appropriate, timed, dated, signed and legible. Promotes throughput for the service by achieving and maintaining medical center expectations for productivity. Provides patient education and feedback to promote health and wellness. Develops a prioritized comprehensive problem list. Documents in the patient’s record all pertinent patient interactions and care. Overview VNS Health Psychiatric RN provides mental health assessment of and treatment to patients with psychiatric symptoms, cognitive deficits, and/or behavioral problems. Provides support and education to VNS Health staff and caregivers to enable them to better care for patients with psychiatric, cognitive and/or behavioral problems. Works under moderate supervision. Responsible for accurately documenting in an EMR system in accordance with licensure and VMG policy and procedures. Maintains close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care and treatment. o (BA) Performs a variety of essential front desk activities that include greeting, registering, ensuring insurance compliance and collecting appropriate payment at time of service. Responsible for maintaining the daily patient schedule and answers all incoming calls that results in scheduling an appointment, medication refills or pass along inquiries from a clinical or billing nature, in a courteous, caring and respective manner. Coordinates with the clinical staff on any special needs or requirements and ensuring proper patient flow. Supports the Practice and professional staff as directed or requested by Practice Manager. Education High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program that is recognized by the State of New Jersey. Certification required. Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management or business. Computer l Experience Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office or outpatient setting preferred. Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required. Skills Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required. o BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required. Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred. Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care.
