The Nurse Triage Registered Nurse job description is adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010), the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Telehealth Nursing, 5th Edition (2011), and the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing, 8th Edition (2010). EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Two years of clinical experience is required. One year of RN experience or nursing student clinical rotation experience may be considered. Three to five years of clinical nursing experience in an applicable specialty, preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred. TRAINING PREFERRED: Preferred proficiency with Epic Nurse Triage Software and call center technology. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Expert communication skills, oral and written required. Proven ability to multi-task. Proven ability to mentor other co-workers on job tasks and workflows. Strong proactive organizational skills. Excellent customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook , Word and Excel. Knowledge of medical terminology and Epic. We Are Hiring: Registered Nurse (RN) - Oconomowoc Med/Surg 0.6 FTE (Nights) We are seeking compassionate and professional staff members to join the medical, surgical and orthopedic unit at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital! Our second floor unit includes an Orthopedic Center for Excellence with a 24 bed unit focusing on for total hip, shoulder and knee replacements patients and cares for orthopedic fractures. We also serve a small medical population. Our three south unit includes an 11 bed unit with medical patients and general surgical patients. These patients include: sepsis, cardiac, stroke, renal, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses. The surgical population includes appendectomy, small bowel obstructions and various other surgeries. The Medical Surgical Unit at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital is focused on the needs of the patient and helping one another to meet those needs. Our patient management on both units may include telemetry monitoring, continuous medication infusions, wounds, varieties of tubes and drains. There are approximately 60 staff members that include experienced and newer staff including, CNA’s, RN’s, and Unit Clerks. Supported by the Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Educator and Operations Coordinator. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Must have functional vision and hearing. Must be able to: - Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist. - Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head. - Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. - Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force. - Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines. Will be exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear gloves, goggles and gowns on an as-needed basis. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
