Total cash compensation includes earnings from per visit point pay and hourly pay and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. This role receives two types of compensation depending on the work being performed. When conducting visits, you will be paid per visit point rate compensation. Your per visit pay will be calculated by multiplying your per visit point rate by the productivity points you accrue for various types of visits. Each type of visit is assigned a certain number of productivity points that is inclusive of 'direct' and 'indirect' patient care activities. Visits are assigned based on patient and business needs. The number of visits performed each week will vary based on individual productivity targets and the productivity points assigned to the visits performed. You will be paid your hourly rate for certain non-visit activities such as orientation. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable. Summary Under general supervision of Clinical Manager (or designee), renders professional nursing care according to established procedures for assigned area of Operating Room. Performs duties of scrub nurse or circulating nurse during surgical procedures. Provides intensive nursing care to post-operative patients when assigned to post anesthesia area. Continually observes patient; monitors vital signs; ventilates and suctions patients; inserts catheters; administers oxygen and the like, according to physician’s instructions and/or professional assessment of patient’s condition. Determines when patient’s condition is stable and releases to designated hospital area. Maintains records and charts, reporting pertinent information regarding patient’s condition, medication given, treatments administered and so forth. Assists in directing, orienting, training and providing functional guidance to surgical technicians and new nursing personnel as requested. Minimum Qualifications Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Basic Knowledge Professional knowledge of clinical nursing to provide nursing care to pre-operative patients under stressful conditions requiring knowledge to sterile techniques, surgical procedures and special precautions and the ability to react to life-threatening situations. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and other hospital personnel. Visual and aural acuity to monitor patient progress. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Graduation from accredited school of nursing. Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Responsibilities The role of the behavioral health RN is challenging and changes on a continuum with client behavior(s). The following framework is needed for new and tenured nurses to safely transition into behavioral health nursing practice. Perform client assessments for behavioral health care and case management. Demonstrate skills for practicing as a nurse in the out-patient/community settings in relation to different modes of care within a given patient demographic: Adherence to Universal Precautions and Covid-19 precautions (donning/doffing PPE) as needed. Nursing physical/behavioral health assessments and required physiological, psychological, and psychosocial screenings. Documentation in the electronic health record, LifeChart: complete DAP Notes, medical database, care coordination (assessments and injections, etc.) Safely prepare and administer IM injections. Reconcile orders/medications, transcribe medication sheets, and safely pack medications in the group home environment. Admit client to group home environment from outside hospitals/care organizations. Deliver medications/re-payee checks to clients. Timely Escalation-of-Care/Concerns to appropriate parties. Demonstrate cognitive appropriateness to practice: RN’s must know how and know when to perform tasks, manage complex cases and long-term conditions. Demonstrate (shows/does) development of practice and ability for self-reflection and evaluation. Demonstrate knowledge of when to consult with Gateway Nursing Leadership and Risk management (Escalate Care) Perform other duties as assigned. Orientation to nursing behavioral health practice is provided. Orientation is outcome and competency based, allowing experienced behavioral health RNs, tenured and recent graduate RN’s who are new to the out-patient/community behavioral healthcare setting, meet the needs of developing an autonomous and safe practice.
