MS7 MS 7 is a medical surgical floor with 28 beds where our average patient turnaround and length of stay is between 24 hours to 3 days. We specialize in the care of children with complex Neurology, Cardiology, Pulmonary and Urology conditions as well as other general medical ailments. MS8 and ACGT MS8 is a 27 bed, inpatient floor. Our team works closely with multiple specialty areas to provide compassionate care, innovative treatment options, and novel clinical therapies to children and young adults affected by cancer and blood disorders. Our staff are provided a strong foundation for caring for this population by offering both Hem/Onc Foundations classes and Chemotherapy/Biotherapy classes. Advanced Cellular and Gene Therapy (ACGT) is a six bed unit operating in partnership with MS8 through a shared nursing staff and integrated model of care. Clinical Practice- On a daily basis, demonstrates clinical expertise and uses the nursing process to provide safe, appropriate patient care to a defined patient population according to CCMC and unit policies and standards. Population Specific- Demonstrates knowledge of the differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities: Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients Registered Nurse (RN) Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area Registered Nurse (RN) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to recognize unsafe and life-threatening situations and how to intervene appropriately Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice Demonstrated compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues Solid foundation in evaluating plans of care and reformulating as necessary Why Choose Day Kimball Health?
