JOB PURPOSE : The Medical Assistant serves in a medical support role as part of a team providing quality healthcare to El Rio patients. In this role, the Medical Assistant provides direct patient care, as well as provides clinical and non-clinical services within the scope of practice at El Rio Health, at a clinic location assigned by management. Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures to include, but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, etc. as required for a Medical Assistant. Our high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit includes a dedicated triage area and supports over 5,500 deliveries annually. We care for high-risk antepartum and intrapartum patients, with 16 LDR beds, 8 antepartum outpatient beds, 4 NST bays, and 3 pre/post-op beds. We have 24/7 in-house coverage by perinatologists, neonatologists, OB anesthesiologists, obstetricians, and two midwifery groups. The unit features 3 dedicated ORs for scheduled and emergent procedures, including C-sections, cerclages, hysterectomies, and D&Cs. Our nurses are cross-trained to serve as pre-op, intra-op (circulator), PACU, and newborn care nurses, providing full-spectrum care. The NICU has a Neonatal Transport Team that provides services to all Level 1I am v Nurseries and 11 centers in Southeastern Arizona and Northern Mexico. The team consists of a RN and a Respiratory Therapist.The team operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Summary Coordinates patient care planning with other disciplines utilizing the principles of the nursing process and critical thinking skills in order to maintain patient safety and well-being. Essential Functions Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure safe patient care.
