Job Description The Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Assistant Director of Nursing / Nurse Practitioner, Outpatient Gastroenterology Infusion Center. The successful candidate will: Provide advanced care, including administering intravenous medications, fluids and nutrients to children to treat chronic illnesses, infections, or for wellness purposes like dehydration and fatigue. Demonstrate responsibility for patient management assessing and educating patients and families, and monitoring patients before, during and after therapy. Oversee pediatric infusions, providing a higher level of care and diagnostic capabilities, including ordering necessary lab tests and adjusting treatment plans. Work both independently and under physician supervision, to create treatment plans, start infusions, monitor for reactions, and educate families. Perform patient assessments, manage medications, order diagnostics, and assist with procedures like endoscopies and colonoscopies. Provide assistance in coordinating, scheduling of the outpatient procedures and prior authorizations for infusions. Coordinate patient care for infusions and therapy. Document all care provided in the patient's medical record; completes all required patient care documentation and submit all documents to the office. Job Description The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1, Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Distinguishing Characteristics The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (T&RC) is supervisory level, and provides administrative and clinical supervision to lower-level registered nurses and direct care staff; oversees and coordinates nursing services for an assigned unit; and may be involved in teaching and orientation functions. Illustrative Duties Plans, directs, and supervises nursing services on an assigned unit, including direct supervision of Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) and other staff. Directs the development and implementation of nursing care plans on a unit. Provides individual care, and functions as an educator and nursing services expert. Assesses work methods of nursing staff and provides feedback to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of care delivered. Coordinates medical and nursing care needs with other health care providers and departments.Ensures proper functioning of equipment and unit compliance with safety and environmental standards. Monitors nursing care quality standards, and implements corrective actions as needed. Attends and participates in medical committees to represent nursing staff needs and the individual population, and participates in writing of care standards. Identifies staff training needs and collaborates with unit educators to develop and implement educational programs. Develops and implements orientation plans for new employees and participates in staffing decisions. Qualifications Required Qualifications Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and 3-years of post-licensure acute care clinical nursing experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing can substitute for 1-year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a Master’s Degree in Nursing can substitute for 2-years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. 55 B/C Qualifications Individuals certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered.
