Telemetry Med-Surg – 2700 2700 is a telemetry medical-surgical unit. This is a 22-bed unit that cares for cardiac patients on telemetry monitoring. Diagnoses on this unit are primarily cardiac in nature, but the unit also cares for patients with a diverse variety of general medical illnesses. Because of this, our nurses develop a strong set of skills and knowledge that they can use to grow their career throughout the acute care environment. RESPONSIBILITIES : Provides high-quality, patient-centered clinical care Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e., physical, psychological, educational, and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological/developmental age of the patient). Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources to meet the needs of the patient and family. Develops and documents plan of care, treatment, and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient's needs, strengths, limitations and goals. Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, including policies governing safety, medication administration, and documentation. Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately. Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to the Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States. Compliance Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year. Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in a timely manner. This unit is focused on caring for the cardiac patient after cardiac procedures such as Pacemaker Insertion, Angiograms, Cardiac Ablations, Angioplasty, and patients who require medicated cardiac infusions. Our team of seasoned and experienced nurses provides mentorship and support to new staff, working together to drive critical thinking through complex medical situations. Many of our nurses start with us and transfer to higher acuity areas, feeling confident they have gained a solid foundation. For those that stay and continue their career with us, we help them sharpen and hone their nursing skills, always offering continuing education and support. CLINICAL LADDER LEVEL I-IV The RN level will be determined at the time of hire based on the candidate’s qualifications and ability to meet Clinical Ladder requirements. An established compensation add-on is applied to each RN level. On occasion, requires travel to private medical offices and Urgent Care facilities in the Rochester area to enroll potential subjects and obtaining required samples. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conducts unstructured interviews with subjects and families as required by protocol. Performs clinical research related procedures, such as blood draws, nasal washes, and swabs. Measures, records, and reports indicators of patient health status. Performs more specialized tasks, such as pediatric blood draws and ECG. Evaluates subjects for local or systemic reactions to determine adverse events to study medication or vaccine. Discusses potential adverse events and SAEs with subjects and participates in grade of events. Participates in the reporting of subject serious adverse events (SAE) and filing of these in a timely manner to sponsors and IRBs. Identification of subject pool, eligibility screening in clinic settings, and/or telephone screens. Completes medical history review. Obtains informed consent and proceeds with enrollment procedures. Answers patient questions to ensure understanding of the clinical study and their involvement. Participates in performing all protocol required study procedures on subjects, including but are not limited to, nasal swabs, nasal washes, venipuncture, and urine collection. Reviews and interprets study guidelines for next steps necessary for the processing and/or shipment of samples which may require home visits and visits conducted under stringent precautions. Tracks and prepares requests for payments to subjects. Attends and participates in study team meetings, monthly research group meetings, and participate in unique sponsor-required training prior to study start. Establishes and maintains relationships with sponsor representatives to ensure regulatory compliance and quality assurance/control. Oversees Quality Assurance and Control to optimize ID site study performance. Makes recommendations and implements changes to improve site study performance, including but is not limited to, source document verification and ensuring its accuracy and compatibility with case report form information. Performs QA of charts to ensure subjects meet all of the eligibility requirements for study participation relating to the study. Ensures procedures are performed per protocol and confirms that no deviations from protocol have occurred. Ensures all source document information is completed accurately and includes all information required by the study sponsor. Inventories study supplies, restocks exam rooms, and organizes supplies and charts for each individual study protocol. Assists with data entry, filing, mailings, source document development, and compiling study summary data as needed. Other duties as assigned.
