Description Of Position The nurse practitioner (NP) works in collaboration with the physician within the scope of practice guidelines agreed upon by the collaborating parties. Responsible for providing health care to patients and families, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education and counseling. Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthotics, braces and other devices as may be allowed by state legislation. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at a department and campus/system level. Makes responsible decisions within the scope of practice. Other office work as needed.
