Educates patient on self-management activities, medications, nutrition, health, and wellness based on the plan of care designed collaboratively with Provider(s). Administers medications and immunizations including oral, nasal, injectable, rectal and topical routes as appropriate. Processes medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods. Handles prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documents appropriately. Manages clinical supplies and medication sample areas to ensure that stock is current, stored appropriately, labeled and par levels maintained. Education/Experience/Licensure MA I Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following: Graduate from an accredited MA Program. Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship. 1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training (LNA, EMT, Combat Medic). 1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. (can include externship), 1 -2 years exp. in a clinical ambulatory care setting preferred. Certification/Licensure: Must possess BLS authorization upon 90 days of employment and maintain during employment. CMA, RMA or CCMA preferred. What will you do in this role: Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitor patient for therapeutic response. Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
