This position is responsible for coordinating trauma care management across the continuum of trauma care, including planning and implementing of clinical protocols / practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact ( eNLC ). 2. Basic Life Support ( BLS ) Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire date. 3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ) Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire date. 4 . Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS) Certification or due within 30 days of hire date. 3 . Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) through Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) within 30 days of hire date. Develops and disseminates educational programs for emergency healthcare professionals to gain competence in injury/violence prevention. Provides education opportunities for the general public in ways to reduce injury or violence. 5. Monitors clinical outcomes and system issues for Performance Improvement. 6. Manages, as appropriate, the operational aspects of Trauma Services. 7. Assists the Trauma Registry to facilitate PI activities through the collection, coding, scoring and developing processes. 8. Acts as a consultant/liaison by working with all departments to assist in the care of the trauma patient. 9. Participates in research selection, analysis and distribution of findings. 10. Participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, provincial or national levels. 11. Communicates and interacts with patients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff and the public in general in a manner that demonstrates professionalism and concern for the individuals' need(s). 12. Participates in Quality initiatives to help assess and improve the services provided and compliance with regulatory requirements. Reports results to appropriate administrative levels. Additional Job Description: WVUHS Medical Group seeks a GI APP. The successful candidate will practice inpatient GI in Weirton, WV. POSITION SUMMARY : The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of gastroenterology patients, (including biological, social, and psychological assessments). The APP coordinates involvement of medical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and coordinates disposition decisions and discharge planning/follow-up (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students. This is a 5-day-a-week position. Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable. Such service may include but are not limited to. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE PRACTITIONER : EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. With the collaboration of gastroenterology/hepatology faculty or by following established clinical Guidelines and Protocols, orders additional tests or consults as deemed appropriate. 5. Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice. 6. Consults and communicates with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in the evaluations of patients. 7. Performs succinct comprehensive clinical evaluations and documents findings in medical record. 8. Facilitates patient disposition by coordinating appropriate services and tests for follow-up appointments in the clinic (as applicable) or location of necessary care arrangements. 9. Develops a comprehensive individualized plan of care for gastroenterology/hepatology patients, which includes teaching, disposition planning and necessary referral to other members of the health care team as necessary. 10. Demonstrates expertise in caring for patients across the age continuum of their educational experience and certification. 11. Identifies unstable or complex gastroenterology/hepatology patient care situations and facilitates intervention if appropriate in the clinic setting. 12. Recognizes emergency situations and initiates effective emergency care. 13. Evaluates gastroenterology/hepatology patients and serves as a coordinator for follow up in the ambulatory setting or longitudinal care facility (as applicable). 14. Assists in the collection of outcome measures (as applicable). 15. Demonstrates critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision making by the identification, evaluation and management of the individual gastroenterology/hepatology needs of patients/families. 16. Demonstrates the ability to utilize equipment in a safe manner. 17. Bases decisions made/actions taken on the relevant scientific principles, established standards of care and/or research findings. 18. Utilizes teaching/learning theory and appropriate teaching strategies in the provision of education to nursing staff, hospital staff, students, patients, families and the community. 19. Documents the plan of care, interventions, evaluations, and disposition plans in a clear and concise manner for every patient visit in the patient’s medical record following approved hospital/UHA policies and compliance standards for documentation. 26. Collaborates with other leaders and staff to effectively achieve patient outcome-based improvements in gastroenterology/hepatology. 27. Provides leadership in the development and implantation of changes in the gastroenterology/hepatology practice that positively impact patient outcomes. 28. Participates and initiates inter-disciplinary approaches to patient care, program development and education. Serves as a professional role model. 30. Promotes and practices innovation of the expanded role in the delivery of care to gastroenterology/hepatology patients and families throughout the inpatient hospitalization, and the ambulatory setting and/or longitudinal facility. 31. Participates and provides leadership for committees and task forces. 32. Documents hours and submits billing reports, as appropriate. 33. Reviews and interprets hepatology data from sources such as patient registries, clinical and financial reports, length of stay, access to care, and cost per case reports and recommends/implements changes as necessary. 34. Participates in clinical trials and research studies with the Principal Investigator. 35. Assists hepatology Faculty, Administrators and Directors in the collection of outcome measures. 36.
