The primary focus in NTICU is trauma and neuro trauma. Our typical patient diagnoses are MVA/MCA, TBI, penetrating trauma, assaults, SDH, SAH, IVH, SCI and orthopedic fractures. In the NVICU, we primarily see stroke patients, post IR patients, craniectomy for tumor resection/debulking, SAH/IVH (non-trauma) and status epilepticus. We work very closely with our physician groups to collaborate on care. Nursing is well respected and a vital part of the care team for the patient. We have a strong culture of teamwork within the unit and have developed a well-rounded residency program for bringing in new nurses to the ICU.
