The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Ortho Sports Medicine is currently seeking a full time Medical Assistant 3 to work in Plantation, FL. The Medical Assistant (MA) 3 will perform multi-skilled tasks to assist the medical providers. The MA 3 shall assist patients’ healthcare management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service. The MA 3 provides hands-on care to patients while adhering to regulatory requirements, standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. Perform vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and document in patient’s medical record. 13. Cleans and/or sterilizes medical instruments while observing principles of sterile technique. Also maintain the DME accurate log of the orthopedic DME that we have in stock. Enter the radiology x-ray charges. Order medical supplies from different vendors in workday. The medical assistant will also take used orthopedic tools up to the operating room to be sterilized by central sterilization team at Uhealth towers. The medical assistant 3 will also learn how to schedule and view appointments in Uchart to confirm patient's appointments. Also, will be responsible for training new employees that are hired in the role of medical assistants for the orthopedic department. Specific functions are competency based. Responsibilities Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. Pay Rate $33.00-$36.00 Monitor the chronic health conditions of residents; be familiar with reportable changes and potential causes for concern. Assist in the admission process; provide resident orientation as appropriate. Assist with a discharge planning process that focuses on the resident’s discharge goals and preparation for successful transition to post-discharge care. Ensure that newly admitted residents have physician orders for immediate care. Participate in initial, comprehensive, quarterly, change of condition and other resident assessments using appropriate MDS forms. Contribute to the development of individualized, resident-centered care plans in coordination with the IDT. Provide nursing care that is compassionate and sensitive to residents with cognitive decline, memory loss or history of trauma. Provide nursing care that is appropriate and sensitive to the culture, language and background of the resident. Monitor resident weight and intake of food and fluids; notify the practitioner of significant weight loss or gain or changes in consumption. Maintain documentation of all nursing care and services provided to the residents; use nurse’s notes, flow sheets and electronic medical records according to facility protocol. Collaborate with hospice services to provide end-of-life palliative care for dying residents. Promote the facility falls prevention practices to maximize resident safety.
