Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the OR at St. John's Hospital located in Maplewood, MN. The Cardiovascular Surgical Technician receives a $2.50/hour augmentation. Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening shift. This position will also work rotating weekends and holidays. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. Our Surg techs work as a part of a strong team and their cases include, but are not limited to, general, dental, ear, nose, and throat, endoscopy, vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, neurology, bariatrics, solid organ transplant, gynecologic, colo-rectal, urology, plastics, and Da Vinci robotics. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for: Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Anticipating the surgeon’s needs. Following appropriate action in emergency situations. Carry out patient care tasks and medical orders as delegated by physicians, APPs or other health care personnel following the Care Model Process. Position Responsibilities Administer and document medication and clinical procedures according to policy. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Conducts pre-visit planning, visit process, and other Care Model Process workflows. Performs accurate and timely charting to support patient care and service. Obtain health history information. Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances. Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting. Accurately document observations, actions and patient outcomes in EMR. Identify patient education needs, provide instruction and pend orders appropriately. Stocks and cleans examination rooms between patients and at end of session. Sterilizes/cleans equipment and instruments. Monitors and requests supplies (or communicates to appropriate staff member) to ensure proper inventory and avoid interruption in service. Complies with applicable legislation such as OSHA and infection control standards. Assists in orientation and training of new personnel as assigned to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed. Participates in quality improvement activities. Participates actively in self-development and educational activities. Complies with Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures and standing orders. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, holding themselves accountable. We are currently hiring for a 0.8 FTE RN Straight Nights 8-hour shifts weekdays. 12-hours 7pm-7am every 3rd Sat/Sun for our St. Paul Main Campus! Benefit eligible position. Current RN License Required. Minimum of 1 year of relevant RN experience is preferred. PICU experience preferred. An RN position within Gillette Children's Nursing Support Team, also known as the Resource Team, offers a dynamic role providing direct patient care across all inpatient nursing units.
